Registrar
A registrar is a company accredited by ICANN or a national registry for the registration of domains without intermediaries.
ICANN
Internet Corporations for Names and Numbers is a non-profit organisation responsible for the highest level of the domain system. Qpol's sister company, Domaininfo, is ICANN accredited which means that we have the right to register and administer gTLDs without intermediaries. This also means that we belong under an agreement with ICANN which takes care of the registrant's security and rights.
IDN
IDN stands for Internationalised Domain Names and refers to domain names not included in the domain name system's character set, which only consists of the characters a-z, 0-9 and the (ASCII) hyphen.
CCtld
A ccTLD, or country code top level domain, is affiliated with a specific country. ccTLDs consist of two characters. Today there are approximately 250 ccTLDs. Each ccTLD has its own set of rules and its own price structure. With a few exceptions, ccTLDs are delegated according to ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. Examples of ccTLDs are .se for Sweden, .no for Norway and .de for Germany.
gTLD
A gTLD, or generic top level domain, is a top domain which is not affiliated to any specific country but which addresses groups with common aims and affinities. gTLDs usually consist of three or more characters. Examples of gTLDs are .com, .net, .mobi, .aero, .asia, .travel
CTM
CTM is short for Community Trade Mark. A community trademark protects your trademark throughout the entire EU and is applied for from OHIM.
